A short, concise rant on Israel. .

Ok, here's a short rant -

Now that Benjamin Netanyahu was inadvertently recorded admitting that Israel is only in peace negations as a way of stringing the Palestinians along while they steal all of their land, and now that Netanyahu has admitted that they will never allow a Palestinian state, isn't it time for all those apologists for Israel to admit that Israel has been the problem all along? For decades I heard people criticize Palestinians for failing to recognize Israel's right to exist, and people continued to perpetuate this misrepresentation years after the vast majority of Palestinians loudly proclaimed that they would recognize the 1947 partition boarders. It is clear now to all but the most blind partizans that it is Israel that will never recognize the Palestinians right to exist, it is the rightwing expansionism of Israel that wants all the land, not peace. The tide is turning. Millennials are beginning to recognize the pervasive lie and apartheid state that is modern Israel. Israel has long been an isolated state by the majority of countries in the world. They are isolated because they are a viscously racists, militarist, expansionist state hell-bent on taking all the land of Palestine and using some biblical fantasy to justify the more immoral of actions. But their isolation will now begin to increase as they have finally made their true colours clear to all but the most rabid apologists.

Reap the whirlwind Bibi - you have met the enemy and he is YOU.

The problem is, there will be no admission of this from most Israel apologists. They've known and believed in greater-Israel from the beginning, but cited 2 states and negotiations blah blah blah for political reasons. My prediction, most just ignore it, pretend it was never said.

Like most Canadians in the 60s I was a big supporter of Israel. I was surprised when we had a lecture in officer school from a young infantry captain just returned from a peacekeeping tour in the Gaza Strip. He told us that we were being fed a load of pro-Israel propaganda in the Canadian media about Palestinian violence. Of the incidents involving Palestinians and Israelis along the strip, he said the overwhelming majority were attacks instituted by the Israelis. His unit tried to stop infiltration, respond to attacks and investigate in the aftermath. He went on at some length and in detail and I was left a bit shocked because what I had believed to be true was apparently nonsense.

Did you read that Obama did not call Netanyahu with the obligatory congratulations but instead criticized his tactics as "divisive."

Mulcair and Trudeau seem to be ducking the controversy although I'm not surprised by either of those two. Harper, naturally, is ecstatic. A giant leap closer to the Rapture I suppose.

@ Mound - I have met a few people who woke up from brain-washing that many leaders have done that has portrayed Israel as the victim. None more startling and moving than Miko Peled. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOaxAckFCuQ
The blindness that people have concerning Israel is the strangest political phenomenon of our time. Ironically I suspect that Obama's position is really about a concern that Netanyahu's position is so blatant that it will undermine Israel in the end, while the Labour Party's smiling (while doing the same thing) approach would more effectively maintain the facade of a "peaceful" Israel that is merely a victim. But now we are, as you say, on the path to rapture of one type or another.

Thanks for the link, Kirby. You might want to read "The Gun and the Olive Branch" by David Hirst.

Hi Kirby...Great post. It couldn't be more true or more powerful. I have no axe to grind in that conflict, all I want to see is the two nations living side by side in peace and security. Or see that gaping wound in the side of the world finally healed. But the actions of the Netanyahu settler regime are simply unforgivable, and need to be condemned by all. As do the actions of our Con regime, that is playing the same dirty fear game Netanyahu used to win. We really won't be safe until we get rid of all of them...
